Sports and Leisure Clubs : Hot Water and Surface Temperatures

Temperatures above 44ºC are known to cause scalding in vulnerable people.  Staff should be made aware of any potential dangers and should be aware of safe water temperatures.

Individuals who cannot move away from a heat source (i.e. hot water pipes, radiators or other forms of space heating devices) quickly enough can sustain serious burns.  This often occurs because they have fallen and are physically unable to move due to their mobility or are trapped by the furniture arrangement.
